Full Description

Administered by the City of Hutchinson in partnership with Interfaith Housing & Community Services, the Down Payment Match Incentive Program is designed to promote homeownership and neighborhood investment in targeted areas of the city. Through this initiative, first-time buyers who are not current property owners and who reside in Reno County can receive a match on the funds they contribute to their down payment and closing costs—typically up to around $2,000 in assistance, calculated as a percentage of buyer cash. Eligible purchases must be located in specific neighborhoods such as Southwest Bricktown, Creekside, Midtown, College Grove, Grace Arbor, Houston Whiteside, or The Founders, aligning the program with local revitalization strategies. Applicants are required to complete an online homebuyer education course and follow-up counseling session provided by Interfaith Housing, which also helps them navigate the application and coordinate with lenders. Once education and documentation are complete, matching funds are delivered directly to the closing agent to reduce the buyer’s out-of-pocket costs. The program operates on a limited-funds, first-come basis and is one of several housing initiatives Hutchinson uses to attract and retain residents in its core neighborhoods.
