Full Description

The City of Raleigh Homebuyer Assistance Program is a high-impact local initiative targeting first-time buyers who are ready to own but lack sufficient upfront cash. Eligible buyers can receive a large zero-interest, deferred loan that covers all or most of their down payment and closing costs, with maximum assistance of $45,000 citywide and $60,000 in designated target areas. No monthly payments are due as long as the buyer continues to occupy the home as a primary residence; repayment is triggered when the property is sold, refinanced, or otherwise transferred. Applicants must meet income and purchase-price limits, complete an approved homeownership education course, choose an eligible property type within the city, and work with an approved lender, making this program a powerful tool for building long-term homeownership and stability in Raleigh.
